JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing excellence customer service and proactive technical expertise to facilitate the implementation of new equipment and operating systems and upgrades to existing computer equipment. Furthermore, working on miscellaneous request while working in a team environment to provide outstanding customer support. In this function this position reports directly to the site IT manager.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's/Associates of Applied Science/AS degree in Computer Systems Technology, Network or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and/or Information Technology is preferred. Related work experience will also be considered.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Ability to troubleshoot both software and hardware issues both on site and remotely
  • Perform initial application troubleshooting for site specific and fleet applications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot multiple operating systems, diagnosing and solving software faults.
  • Knowledge of: Computer operating systems and operating computer systems peripheral devices.
  • Support all aspects of the end user including remote access, systems build and lease term (Desktop/Laptop) installation and setup and administration of desktops and laptops
  • Support off-site equipment setup, troubleshooting, repair, and lease term (desktop/laptop) installation
  • PC/MAC imaging and setup process, mobile device setup, and other types of moves and changes. This will include proactively install and maintain anti-virus/anti-spam solution, perform system recovery of deleted files; perform software installations; obtain patches, upgrades, and bug fixes.
  • Order PC's/MAC's, peripherals, and PC/MAC software as needed maintaining detailed records, including inventories through ticketing system. Dispose of aged equipment in a timely fashion.
  • Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs audio visual equipment, video conferencing equipment, in-house cable TV systems, loudspeaker setups and non-vendor supported printers.
  • Basic understanding of cyber security with the ability to respond to alerts and escalations in a timely manner
  • Working knowledge and understanding of IT Service, Customer model and IT organizational roles / responsibilities which work together to serve customer needs.
  • Experience implementing, integrating, and supporting vendor application solutions is required.
  • Familiarity with Windows 10/11, MS-Office 365, and other Windows based applications.
  • Ability to participate in a 9 week on-call rotation in support of 24/7 operations of the Plant Vogtle facility.
  • Ability to work on-site for every scheduled workday. 4 days/week -10 hours schedule or 5 days/Week -8 Hours
  • Nuclear plant support experience is preferred.


Secondary Responsibilities may include:

  • Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs telecommunications equipment for southern company, Co-Owners, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and data/voice cabling including computer and telephone lines, voice mail system, conference bridges, Voice over IP (VoIP) equipment, audio visual equipment, cabling for fiber optic and cable.

Experience Requirements

  • Experience with different types of Microsoft applications and general broad knowledge of IT to troubleshoot application issues reported by the business (computers, networks, Windows servers, packaged applications, etc.).
  • Ability to provide on-call support.
  • Candidate must be knowledgeable in hardware/network troubleshooting
  • Although rare, the candidate must possess the ability to work in plant conditions that may include limited exposure to radiation and/or radioactive contamination
  • Demonstrate personal computing skills (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
  • Successful completion of Southern Nuclear Background Investigation (including credit history/check) is required for employment
  • Participation in Random Drug/Alcohol Testing is a requirement of employment.
  • Establish highly credible relationship with customers and team members.
  • Manage Completing requirements.


ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:

This IT Field Ops Technician position will report to the IT Manager at Vogtle Nuclear Plant. This position will report and perform duties on-site. Only in extreme conditions will remote work be approved. It is desirable for this individual to live within a 50-mile radius of the plant. Relocation assistance will be offered with this position.

Additionally, the Technician position is required to comply with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations. This includes the requirement to successfully pass NRC and Southern Nuclear Corporation (SNC) yearly required exams, initial/random Federal Drug Testing program, psychological testing, and criminal background investigations to ensure a drug/alcohol free work environment and to ensure employees are trustworthy and reliable.

Lastly, this job utilizes a four 10's Monday through Thursday work schedule based at Vogtle Nuclear Station located in Waynesboro, Georgia. The work schedule is subject to change during refueling outages in order to provide a 7x24 coverage. Working nights and evenings can be expected during these times. Telecommuting is not offered in this position. Travel is less than 10%.
