The Role
Defense One is seeking an experienced Business Reporter to join our editorial team. You will have a strong background in covering the defense industry, with a focus on providing in-depth analysis and breaking news. You will have a unique opportunity to contribute to a collaborative newsroom environment while exploring a diverse range of topics within the national security landscape.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research and interviews to produce compelling and accurate stories on the defense industry.
- Cover a wide range of topics related to military and defense.
- Moderate panels and participate in on-camera interviews during events organized by Defense One.
- Collaborate with other team members on stories and events.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, policy changes, and emerging technologies within the defense sector.
Qualifications
- 5+ of experience covering defense or military topics; more experience, particularly covering the defense industry, is a plus.
- Strong writing skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to deliver timely and well-researched articles in a fast-paced news environment.
- Comfortable with on-camera interviews and moderating panel discussions.
- Familiarity with current national-security issues and the defense landscape.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within the team.

The compensation range for the role is $70,000 to $100,000 per year.
