Summary

The Albany Area Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining Georgia Power's influence and presence, advancing its business interests, and providing exceptional community leadership in Dougherty, Baker, Calhoun, Colquitt, Lee, Randolph, Terrell, Quitman, and Worth counties. This position will be responsible for building relationships of influence with government officials at all levels, as well as business and community leaders to ensure positive legislation, regulations, local ordinances, and other items that impact the company, our external relationships, and our ability to provide the highest level of customer value are in place.

The Area Manager will help coordinate operations activities across all Georgia Power functional areas within the assigned geographic territory to provide excellent service to our customers and communities. This includes Power Delivery, Sales, Customer Service, Economic Development and Customer Choice.

In addition, this position will have accountability to actively support a culture within the Company that is inclusive, builds trust and is continuously improving. This includes ownership of our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts as well as leadership in continuing to advance Southern Company "Moving to Equity" plans. Specifically, Area Manager must be prepared to form relationships in all the communities and look for opportunities to further DE&I efforts in our communities where appropriate.

Job Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of various functional areas, including Customer Service, Community and Economic Development, Sales, Power Delivery, External Affairs, Generation, Finance & Accounting.
  • An innovative, self-motivated, and bold leader who can develop strategic plans, which translate into actionable objectives; able to think strategically, implement strategy and make decisions.
  • Ability to utilize resources, such as charitable giving budgets and volunteers to maximize influence and drive community & economic development, workforce development, and social justice.
  • Collaborative leader with strong cross-functional partnerships which help expedite service to our customers and other external stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance serving on multiple boards and committees simultaneously in different counties (e.g., Development Authority, Chamber Board, Rotary, Kiwanis, other Charitable and Educational organizations).
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with government officials and community leaders; navigate complex issues and find common ground with multiple stakeholders with differing perspectives.
  • Highly developed skills in communication (verbal and written), interpersonal relations and the ability to communicate with and gain the confidence of people from a variety of sectors and settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in the external community environment, including service on community boards and committees is preferred.
  • Demonstrated organizational and process management skills.
  • Takes initiative for personal development and the development of others.
  • Demonstrates safe work behaviors and supports Safety Excellence.
  • Periodically lead special project teams at the request of the Southwest region Executive


Other Requirements:

  • This position requires participation in various activities (meetings, community events, storm restoration, etc.) outside of normal working hours.
  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Area Manager must live within their assigned territory.
