Description
The Anesthesia Technician I reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Anesthesia Technician I provides perioperative technical support to the members of the anesthesia team with all anesthesia procedures.

As an Anesthesia Technician, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of our healthcare facility, working closely alongside Anesthesia providers to ensure seamless procedures and patient care. You will receive comprehensive training to develop a strong foundation in anesthesia technology, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients undergoing surgical procedures. Qualified candidates have the opportunity to progress to the role of Anesthesia Technician II after demonstrating proficiency and devoted in their responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares and maintains all anesthesia related equipment and supplies for anesthetic procedures. This includes but is not limited to the following: gas cylinders, monitoring equipment and supplies, intubation equipment including fiberoptics, breathing circuits, blood warmers, etc.
- Reports all equipment malfunctions to proper personnel.
- Disinfects and sterilizes anesthesia equipment following proper procedure.
- Maintains appropriate inventory levels of supplies and equipment related to anesthesia care; orders supplies as necessary.
- Assists with movement of equipment and supplies to support room turn-over and readiness.
- Cleans equipment and supplies in accordance with procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Orients new staff to the Anesthesia Technician role.
- Attend in-services for continuing education/maintenance of competency.

Qualifications
Required:
- BasicLife Support (NM offers renewal of BLS certification for employees)
- Exhibit a high level of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate reliability and dependability.
- Display a continuous desire for personal and professional growth, seeking opportunities for learning and development.
- Physical ability to lift, push, pull and move at least 35 lbs.
Preferred:
- 1-2 years of technical health care experience
- Individuals motivated to advance their careers in the medical field
