This position may be filled at either the Workforce Data Analyst (Level 5) or Senior Workforce Data Analyst (Level 6). Individuals who demonstrate advanced skills in terms of work experience, education and certifications may be eligible for the advanced grade.

There is flexibility with the location for this position as long as the applicant has regular access to a Southern Company Gas location. The role does not need to be in Georgia. Limited travel to Georgia, Illinois, Virginia, or Tennessee may be required.

SUMMARY

This position's main purpose is to perform complex analysis, forecasting, modeling, tracking, and reporting of workforce data management. Projects will be focused on supporting Human Resources but may include support for broader Gas business initiatives.

The role will be responsible for leading the collection, analysis, and reporting of various aspects of the workforce. Data will be used to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement and provide insights and recommendations to leadership and key stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the collection and validation of data from various sources (e.g., HR systems, surveys, and benchmarks).
  • Perform data analysis using statistical/visualization tools, such as Excel, SPSS, Tableau, and Power BI.
  • Create and maintain dashboards, reports, and presentations to communicate key workforce metrics and findings to senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with HR and the business to understand data needs and provide solutions and recommendations.
  • Lead efforts to ensure data quality, accuracy, and compliance with data governance and privacy policies.
  • Deliver monthly and quarterly reporting including hires, terminations, promotions, retirements, and multiple demographic assessments for Human Resources and company dashboards and scorecards.
  • Assist with gathering and reporting Talent Designations, Performance Ratings, and Succession Slate tracking and information gathering.
  • Partner with Vacancy Review Process owner to lead Position Management for Human Resources - including process management, consulting, reporting, and tracking.


QUALIFICATIONS

LEVEL 5:
Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, statistics, business administration, Human Resources, or comparable degree required.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience navigating and tying reports and sources of information together to present clear, cohesive, and useful data.
  • 3-5 years developing and applying formulas to analyze, manipulate, and display trend and forecast reports, dashboards and solutions using Excel and Power BI, or equivalent analysis tools preferred.


Skills:

  • Ability to collaborate with multiple disciplines to understand trends and initiatives.
  • Knowledge and experience to develop customized information and insightful analysis.
  • Project management including research, defining requirements, analysis, documentation, design/development, negotiation, problem resolution, training, status reporting, implementation, standard and ad hoc deliverables.
  • Interact with all levels and departments of the organization such as HR Delivery, Labor Relations, Talent Management and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
  • Understanding of data requirements/project fit, priority, and value for HR and the business.


LEVEL 6:
Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in business, accounting, statistics, business administration, Human Resources, or comparable degree required.
  • Master's degree or advanced data, statistical or analytical certifications preferred.
  • 5+ years of applicable experience performing statistical analysis, reporting, data collection and report generation, with an emphasis on Human Resources information required.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience developing and applying formulas to analyze, manipulate, and display trend and forecast reports, dashboards and solutions using Excel and Power BI, or equivalent analysis tools required.


Skills:

  • Advanced organizational knowledge and understanding and its impact on the data, definitions, assumptions, timing, etc. for analysis and reporting.
  • Advanced skills delivering effective data/trend consulting and guidance for business partners who may be at different experience levels with data and analysis.
  • Lead the design and implement data solutions to provide insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Conduct research and benchmarking on industry standards and best practices for workforce analytics.
  • Take the lead with program and projects as requested including preparing data and analysis for team meetings, company presentations, Management Council meetings, Board meetings, and other assigned projects.
